Laundress
The Maison Helya laundress changes, cleans and irons the household linen as well as the owners’ clothes on a daily basis. She ensures their availability and storage in the respective dressing rooms and storage spaces. She is a professional expert in textiles and capable of carrying out sewing alterations.
Fields of excellence of a laundress
Linen care
- Washing, ironing and folding household linen and ready-to-wear clothes
- Perfect knowledge of the different textile materials and how to care for them by machine or by hand
- Master stain removal techniques, particularly for upholstery fabrics
- Organise and tidy linen in dressing rooms and storage areas
- Drop off and collect linen and delicate garments from the dry cleaners
- Cleaning and storing seasonal garments
- Ironing and ensuring that all fabrics are properly folded and hemmed
- Carry out sewing and alteration work
- Keeping the various household appliances in good working order (washing machine, iron, steamer, etc.)
- Assist the housekeeper or butler in preparing luggage and putting away travel items
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the work area
Manage stocks
- Ensuring the constant availability of household linen
- Manage stocks of cleaning products (washing powder, stain remover, fabric softener, etc.)
- Order or purchase products according to defined stocks
Laundress profile
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar position required
- NVQ in dressmaking, ironing or tailoring
- Knowledge of hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Fluency in French, English appreciated (optional)
- Excellent organisational skills, observation skills, autonomy, reliability, thoroughness, efficiency, perfectionism, discretion and confidentiality
